Meet the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Division of Police Canine Unit – a group of highly trained dogs, able to detect explosives, search buildings, sniff out illegal drugs, help with patrols, and even apprehend criminals! Think your dog can do that? Come learn more about these amazing animals and the officers that work with them! While you’re here, meet some lovable animals from the Lexington Humane Society and create some unique canine art to take home!

Day of the Dead Festival
November 1, 5 – 9 PM
On November 1, the “Night of the Angels”, the Living Arts & Science Center will present the 10th annual Day of the Dead Festival with a participatory celebration at the Living Arts & Science Center as well as at the Old Episcopal Burying Ground at the corner of E. 3rd Street and Elm Tree Lane. This event is a fun, participatory experience for the entire family.
The Day of the Dead Festival is a true community event bringing together individuals, groups, students and teachers from the Latino and non-Latino communities. Join the celebration and experience the rich visual, musical, dance and culinary traditions of this holiday that is celebrated in Mexico and parts of Central and South America. The Festival will include live music and dance performances, traditional food, hands-on crafts, art exhibits and a gallery talk by the artists, a candlelight parade, and an exhibition of altars in the Old Episcopal Burying Ground.

$4 per person ($3 members)
Kids of all ages will enjoy becoming an engineer for the day while building bridges and arches, playing with a giant Newton’s Cradle, and experimenting with robots and circuits in our science exhibit: How Things Work: Engineering+Inovation. Explorers get hands-on in our makers space with collaborative projects and experiments. Take in rotating art exhibits in our four art galleries and watch a starry planetarium show in Lexington’s only planetarium. See below for planetarium shows and times.

- Collect rainwater and cold shower water to use for watering plants.
- Plant drought-resistant trees and plants.
- Remove dying plants and weeds that compete for available water.
- Don’t run the hose while washing your car.
- Limit showers to 5 minutes and install a low-flow shower head.
- Turn off the water after you wet your toothbrush.
- Check faucets, pipes, and toilets for leaks.
- Use your dishwasher only for full loads.
